HP/CA-Unicenter 120 Day Free License Program Hotline (CATRIAL) 6/15/93 The purpose of this hotline is to communicate the status and deliverables of the CA-Unicenter 120 day free license program. X-terminal co-promotion CA-Unicenter 120-day Free License Program Plan 1. Program Objectives: A. HP Objectives To offer HP customers an opportunity to "try and buy" the leading Unix system management solution and increase HP 9000 Series 800 system sales B. CA Objectives To enhance awareness of CA-Unicenter with HP's customer base, and to increase CA-Unicenter sales 2. 120 day free-license Program timeline: A. Program Start Date The 120-day free license program is targeted to begin customer shipments as follows: US/Asia Pacific July 8, 1993 Europe July 22, 1993 These dates are governed by the program timeline developed by HP and agreed to by CA. These dates may slip slightly, depending on HP's quality testing of the CA-Unicenter software and trial process. B. Program End Date The 120-day promotional program will last for a period of one year (July 8, 1994, OR one year from actual program start date). 3. Program Contents A. Systems supported at initial release of program The CA-Unicenter 120 day free license program will be supported on the following systems in the following manner: HP 9000 Series 800: program contents: Model F CA-Unicenter "folder" Model G/H/I CA-Unicenter "kit" Model 890 uniprocessor Model 890 CA-Unicenter "kit" multiprocessor when multiprocessing support is available (September timeframe) B. Promotional folder contents ("folder") For the HP 9000 Series 800 Model F systems, the promotional folder will contain: 1. Cover letter A high-level introduction to the program 2. Demo Diskette A PC-based demonstration of CA-UNICENTER for HP-UX 3. Brochure An overview describing the features of the CA-UNICENTER product 4. CA-Unicenter Form to fill out to obtain Registration 120-day free license from CA form C. Promotional kit contents ("kit") For the HP 9000 Series 800 Model G, H, I, and 890 (uniprocessor) systems, the promotional kit will contain: 1. Video Tape An overview of CA-UNICENTER for HP-UX 2. Demo Diskette A PC-based demonstration of CA-UNICENTER for HP-UX 3. Brochure An overview describing the features of CA-UNICENTER 4. "Getting A tutorial of CA-UNICENTER Started Guide" 5. "Using A detailed explanation of CA-UNICENTER" the functionality of CA-UNICENTER, along with practical examples 6. "CA-UNICENTER Step-by-step instructions Installation for installing CA-UNICENTER Guide" for HP-UX 7. CA-UNICENTER Contains the complete DAT CA-UNICENTER for HP-UX 9.0 product in DAT format 8. CA-Unicenter Form to fill out to obtain Registration 120-day free license from CA form D. Localization of program contents CA will provide four language versions of both the kits and folders to HP. The determination by HP of which language version to ship will based on the systems' manual language option on the original customer order. The following language versions are supported for the period of this promotion: -English -French/Canadian -German -Japanese 4. Customers eligible for promotion The 120-day free license program is designed for customers who are shipped HP 9000 Series 800 systems on or after the program start date. HP field personnel and HP installed base customers WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE to order the 120-day free license kits (as individual part numbers) directly from HP. If CA would like to offer this program to HP installed base customers, CA is solely responsible for the implementation and administration of such a program. 5. Customer process (for G/H/I/890) systems a. Customer receives shrinkwrapped 120 day free license promotional kit with S800 shipment. b. Customer must FAX to CA a completed application (FAX number is on the promotional flyer) c. CA will issue the customer a key to use CA- UNICENTER for 120 day trial promotion. At this time, CA will provide the customer with a CA-UNICENTER documentation set. CA will work with the customer to understand their requirements for this trial, and likely recommend that the customers to purchase a CA- Startup Pak to get the customer up-to-speed on CA- Unicenter. HP's PSD is working with CA to determine how to recommend that the customer contact the HP PSO for initial product start-up training and consulting. The PSD services are still in the process of being defined, and will not be available in the initial stages of this program. PSD will be phasing in services over time. d. At the end of 120 days, the CA-Unicenter trial license will expire. The customer must contact CA if they wish to continue to use the CA-UNICENTER software after this time. The customer must obtain a license from CA to use the software. 6. X-terminal co-promotion Because the CA-UNICENTER Motif interface adds much value to the CA-UNICENTER product, most customers would want to try the software with some sort of X-display. Customers would be able to use any supported X-terminal, or workstation, as the front end GUI display for Unicenter. For those customes without any kind of X-display device, HP (Panacom) offers a promotion program for an HP X-terminal. This program will allow a customer to purchase an X-terminal at a significant discount. The Promotion is entitled "Open for X Business Promotion".
